ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂ¼Ç Awards Montana Resources Opportunity Scholarship

ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂ¼Ç has awarded the third Montana Resources Opportunity Scholarship for 2019 to former Butte High School student, Jasmin Juarez. Juarez is pursuing a degree in Biological Sciences at ºÚÁÏ´óʼÇ.
“This scholarship has provided me the opportunity and the ability to pursue my education and achieve my goal of earning a degree in Biology,” explained Juarez. “I chose Biology because I find it challenging, and this field offers me a diverse opportunity for career choices in areas that interest me: the environment and life sources. My parents are very excited for me!”

The scholarship is part of ºÚÁÏ´óʼǒs Be the First Initiative and is made possible through the generous support of Montana Resources and the Dennis and Phyllis Washington Foundation along with many local donors. The scholarship helps first-generation Butte kids with financial need to realize their educational dreams. This scholarship provides all the costs associated with attending ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂ¼Ç – tuition, fees, room and board, and books.

“Across history, the goal has been for each successive generation to have a better life than the previous,” noted Michael Barth, executive director of the ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂ¼Ç Foundation. “Education plays a huge role in ensuring that progress. We are so pleased to welcome our second group of Montana Resources Opportunity Scholars to ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂ¼Ç and extend our thanks to Montana Resources, the Dennis and the Phyllis Washington Foundation for making this day possible. We will continue to work hard to perpetuate this program through an endowment that will provide opportunities to local students to pursue their dreams far into the future.”

Mike McGivern, Vice President of Human Resources, added, “Montana Resources and the Washington Foundation are really excited to see the second group of Butte students enter ºÚÁÏ´óʼÇ, and we are confident that the support of ºÚÁÏ´óʼǒs staff and the quality of these students will produce a great outcome. We wish them all the best. Go Diggers!”

Juarez joins Aryana Rodriguez from Butte Central Catholic High School and Grayson Gleason from Butte High School as the 2019 scholarship awardees. For more information on the scholarship, please visit https://impact.mtech.edu/project/8192.
