The Hunting Ground to be Shown at ºÚÁÏ´óʼÇ

The documentary, THE HUNTING GROUND, will be shown at ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂ¼Ç on April 12th in the Library Auditorium at 7:00 pm. Students, faculty, staff and the public are invited to attend this free event. THE HUNTING GROUND is a startling exposé of sexual assaults on U.S. campuses, institutional cover-ups and the brutal social toll on victims and their families. It weaves together verité footage and first-person testimonies, following survivors as they pursue their education while fighting for justice.

The ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂ¼Ç Title IX and Rape Prevention Team members are sponsoring this documentary which has been shown on campuses and communities throughout the United States. ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂ¼Ç Title IX Coordinator, Vanessa Van Dyk, notes “The Title IX team is invested in bringing awareness to our ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂ¼Ç community of the resources available should someone be victimized by sexual misconduct. The Title IX team is just one of those resources.” Title IX prohibits sex discrimination in education.

The ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂ¼Ç Rape Prevention Team has brought education and programming to ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂ¼Ç throughout this academic year. Sponsoring THE HUNTING GROUND helps highlight the need to stand up against sexual violence, part of ºÚÁÏ´óʼǒs FRONTSTANDER campaign.

“We have worked diligently in getting the word out about what it means to be a FRONTSTANDER,” Dean of Students Paul Beatty comments. Bystander Trainings, Rape Prevention Education workshops, mandated online trainings for new students and all faculty and staff, speakers that focus on healthy relationships and the meaning of consent along with FRONTSTANDER t-shirts, pens, brochures, and water bottles have all been part of the 2015-16 academic year endeavors.
