Support Group for LGTQIAP+ Community Offered on Campus

ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂ¼Ç is partnering with the local Safe Space’s Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Programs to provide weekly support groups for students and community members belonging to the LGBTQIAP+ community. People of marginalized orientations, gender alignments, and intersex conditions as well as their supportive allies or people questioning their own identities are invited to attend preliminary meetings to discuss possible dates, times, locations, and group formats to best serve the LGBTQIAP+ community of Butte and ºÚÁÏ´óʼÇ. The first meetings will take place on Monday, October 13 at 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. and on Monday, October 20 at 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. The meetings will be held in Room 115 at Highlands College located at 25 W. Basin Creek Road.

“ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂ¼Ç is dedicated to promoting and having a welcoming and inclusive environment,” explained ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂ¼Ç Chancellor Don Blackketter. “We want all students to have the opportunities and support the ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂ¼Ç community has to offer.”

In addition to the meetings, ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂ¼Ç is also proud to support National Coming Out Day on Saturday, October 11, 2014. Every year on National Coming Out Day, people celebrate coming out as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer (LGBTQ) or as an ally, and this year marks the 26th anniversary of National Coming Out Day.
